Poem 65 – My Invisible Sister

Standard

My Invisible Sister

by Jaymie Gerard

Mom and daddy said today,

“Your sister’s coming soon!”

They bought a bunch of pink things

And stuck them in a room

They point to mommy’s belly

They say the baby’s there

I looked and looked my hardest

But I can’t find her anywhere!

Poem 62 – I’ll Catch You Anything You Need (song lyrics)

Standard

I’ll Catch You Anything You Need (song lyrics)

Caught you a moonbeam as it shined out through the night

Caught you a sunbeam as it sparkled through the trees

Caught you a raindrop as it fell down from the sky

I’ll catch you anything you need

Anything you need to be happy

Anything you need to be happy

Caught you a wave from the oceans blue and deep

Caught you a sea-breeze as it passed me peacefully

Caught you a pearl just as perfect as can be

I’ll catch you anything you need

Anything you need to be happy

Anything you need to be happy

Caught you a flower from the field grown tall and still

Caught you an oak tree as its leaves were growing green

Caught you an apple as it rolled on down the hill

I’ll catch you anything you need

Anything you need to be happy

Anything you need to be happy

Caught you a songbird as it sang for you and me

Caught you a rainbow and all that lived between

Caught you the mountains, the forests and the sea

I’ll catch you anything you need

Anything you need to be happy

Anything you need to be happy

Poem 61 – Don’t Lick It

Standard

“Don’t Lick It” by Jaymie Gerard

You gotta nose, go on and pick it

See what you can find and stick it

On a ball, and then go kick it

Or take your finger and just flick it

Into a mean, old neighbor’s thicket

Be creative!  That’s the ticket!

There’s just one rule, my friend – Don’t lick it.

Poem 60 – I Don’t Need No Underwear

Standard

“I Don’t Need No Underwear” by Jaymie Gerard

I don’t need no underwear

‘Specially not none under there

My mom may yell but I don’t care

‘Cause I don’t need no underwear

I don’t need no underwear

No, not even a fancy pair

With stripes and polka-dots and flare

No, I don’t need no underwear

I don’t need no underwear

I like my bottom good and bare

I may seem strange, I may be rare

But I don’t need no underwear

I don’t need no underwear

Don’t need more cushion for my chair

Don’t be rude and try to stare

‘Cause I don’t need no underwear

I don’t need no underwear

Don’t be polite and try to share

Now, that’s just gross, so don’t you dare

Oh I don’t need no underwear

Poem 59 – “Yesterday I Lost a Tooth”

Standard

“Yesterday I Lost a Tooth” by Jaymie Gerard

Yesterday I lost a tooth

And saw a fairy – It’s the truth!

It happened when I went to bed

I felt a small hand lift my head

I thought at first it was a dream

But pinched myself and gave a SCREAM

Then “Shhh!” I heard, “Don’t wake your dad

Or mom, that would be very bad!

Now if you want to get your money

Then you better listen closely, honey –

Don’t tell a soul you saw me here.”

“Ok,” I promised, real sincere”

And out she pulled a stack so high

Of dollars that they reached the sky

“These are for you who gave your word

You never saw or smelled or heard

Of me… and just to make it clear –

If you tell they’ll disappear.

“Of course,” I said, “I understand”

As she placed the bills into my hand

Then off she flew and there I sat

And I was rich and that was that.

Don’t believe me?  Well, then here’s the box

I put it in, behind my socks –

Ta-Daaaaaa!!!!

No wait!  Where did it go?!

It was all right here minutes ago

It must have vanished.  But how?  I wonder,

Did I make some sort of blunder?

I kept my secret, thru and thru

The only one I told… was you.

Poem 58 – “Popsicles

Standard

“Popsicles” by Jaymie Gerard

Popsicles!

Ice popsicles

Are hanging from

My windowsill!

But it’s a trick!

For if I lick

I’m certain that

My tongue would stick!

Poem 57 – “b’s and d’s” (Billy the Bee song)

Standard

“b’s and d’s (Billy the Bee song)” by Jaymie Gerard

Billy the bee, buzzing by me

Bringing blueberry pie

Baked it for Bob (he’s a big bug)

And Betty the butterfly

Blueberry’s best, when put to the test

But blackberry’s close behind

Boiled and baked, in a pancake

How ‘bout them both combined?

B b b b b buh

B b b b beee

Circle’s on the right side

Line’s on the left, you see

Davie the dog, diggin’ by day

Droolin’ and diggin’ by night

Dug a big ditch, Daddy fell in

While dancing to Clementine

Ditches are dug, and in the backyard

Are daisies and dandy holes

So dance, Daddy, dance, but don’t take the chance

Of dancing with your eyes closed

D d d d d d d d

D d d d Deee

Line’s on the right, you see
